Air Fryer French Fries

With an air fryer you can use almost no oil to make delicious fresh and crispy fries at home. They only taste like you waited in line!

  • 3 large russet potatoes, cut into french fry size pieces (about 6 cups) (peeling is optional)
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil
  • kosher salt


  • Use a mandolin or sharp knife to cut russet potatoes into "french fry size" strips. About 1/4 in across. Place the cut potatoes into a bowl of cold water and allow them to soak for about an hour.  Drain the potatoes and dry on a kitchen towel.
  • Place the fries into a large, dry bowl, add oil and toss to coat the cut potatoes completely.  The potatoes should be very thinly coated.
  • Toss the potatoes in batches into the air fryer basket, depending on the capacity of the basket, and set the dial for 10 minutes and 400°F. (Your air fryer settings may vary).
  • After 10 minutes, take out the basket and shake it well. Return the basket to the fryer and cook for another 10 minutes until the potatoes are crispy. Drain on paper towel lined plate.
  • Add salt to taste and serve the fries with your favorite dipping sauce.
