Homemade Pecan Pumpkin butter, smooth and delicious, with pumpkin puree, brown sugar and pecan flavoring.

Ingredients

  • 2 15-ounce cans pumpkin puree ,not pumpkin pie filling
  • 1 1/2 cups brown sugar
  • 3/4 cup apple juice
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp ground ginger
  • 1/4 tsp cloves
  • 1/4 tsp nutmeg
  • 1/8 tsp pecan flavoring

Instructions

Slow Cooker Method:
  1. Add all ingredients to 4 quart or larger slow cooker insert. Stir to combine.
  2. Cover and cook 2 - 3 hours on LOW, stirring occasionally.
  3. Stir in more spice or sugar to your taste.
Stovetop Method:
  1. Add all ingredients to a heavy bottomed saucepan. Stir to combine.
  2. Bring mixture to a boil over MED-HIGH heat. Reduce heat to LOW and simmer for 20 - 30 minutes or until thickened.
  3. Add more spice and sugar to your taste.
Storing Pumpkin Butter
  1. Let cool completely. Transfer to an airtight container and store in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks. Or Freeze for up to 2 months.
