Ingredients

  • 12 corn tortillas
  • 1/4 cup vegetable oil
  • kosher salt

Equipment

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Remove 6 tortillas from the package. Re-seal the package to keep the remaining tortillas from drying out.
  2. Using a brush, apply a light coat of oil to one side of the first tortilla. Lay oil side down on your work surface, and apply a light coat of oil to the other side of the tortilla. Lay a second tortilla on top of the first and brush the side facing up lightly with oil. (do not brush oil on two sides, the oil on the first tortilla will coat the underside of the second). Keep adding tortillas, brushing only the top side with oil until you have a stack of six tortillas.
  3. Using a sharp knife, cut the tortillas into 6 wedges. Cut all the way thru. One stack will make 36 chips.
  4. Lay the wedges out in a single layer on the baking sheet. Sprinkle with kosher salt.
  5. Bake on the middle rack  in a 350 degree oven for 10-12 minutes, until the edges are browned and the chips are dry.
  6. Remove your Homemade Tortilla Chips from the baking sheet to a paper towel lined bowl or plate to serve.
  7. Repeat steps with remaining 6 tortillas
  8. Store in an airtight container for up to 2 weeks.
