Pom Poms and Pillows
Happy Friday everyone! I hope that you all had a wonderful week. Do you have any interesting plans for the weekend? Staying out of the cold? I am excited because I have a trip to IKEA planned for Sunday! I live in a suburb of Columbus, OH, a city of a million people, and the nearest IKEA is 114 miles away!! IKEA will be building a store about 3 miles from my home, to open in 2017, but for now ROAD TRIP!!
Until then, let me share with you the Pom Pom project I completed. I have been seeing Pom Poms everywhere lately. On scarves, hats, pillows, curtains, purses, sweaters, and cell phone covers. I admit I have never really been a Pom Pom girl, but for some reason I wanted to try to make them. Now I may be obsessed!! Pom Poms have transformed two plain (sorry IKEA) cushion covers into something special. The two knife edge, velvet pillows were OK before, but now they rock!!
The pillows are completely fine, but a little boring where they sit in this photo. I became obsessed with putting Pom Poms on these pillows. I had no idea how to make them, so off to Michael’s I went and picked up a Pom Pom maker. The instructions left me baffled, but after about 3 times and lots of wasted yarn, I got the hang of it. I felt cool! Not!
This one is by a company called Clover. This is not an endorsement for Clover, I just used this product and it worked out really well (on my fourth try).
I made my Pom Poms medium size and full. I want to make a large Pom Pom ( read still obsessed) but I don’t know what I would use it for. Any ideas?
I am really happy with the outcome. The pillows now look more like designer pillows and less like IKEA. I love the jazzed up look! I will probably get a larger pillow insert when I go to IKEA on Sunday. This is a down filled 20 x 20 insert, but it is allowing the corners of the pillow to droop. I think it still looks awesome though!
What do you think of project Pom Poms? Do you like the pillows better before or after? If you have any questions, leave me a comment so I can respond. Please leave me a comment and share what you think. I just want to take a moment to thank you for coming back each day and to say I appreciate you! I really do!! Your comments and words of support are what keep me coming back and blogging each day! Thank you.
