If you love the flavor of Barbecue but don’t want to or can’t always cook on the grill, you will love this Oven BBQ Pork Chop recipe. I use this same recipe using chicken thighs too, and it is just as tasty.

When I lived down south in North Carolina, a friend showed me how to make this delicious recipe. We were both craving barbecue and it was too cold to grill so we made these instead.

Instead of chops, she used pork blade steaks. They are larger than pork chops. the meat is more tender, and they were amazing! That delicious meat was eaten right to the bone! Sadly, I can’t find blade steaks up here, so I use bone-in pork chops instead.

INGREDIENTS TO MAKE OVEN BBQ PORK CHOPS

  • Pork Chops – I like to use bone-in pork chops for this recipe but boneless are fine too. You may need to adjust the cooking time depending on the thickness of the chops.
  • Barbecue Sauce – this recipe was made with a thick, brown sugar barbecue sauce.
  • Olive Oil – use whichever liquid oil you prefer.
  • Italian Dressing
  • Montreal Steak Seasoning – this is a family favorite. Sometimes I’ll use Smokehouse Maple to change it up.
  • Worcestershire Sauce

  1. Hi Georgia – thanks so much for the review! This has been an easy family favorite of ours for years too – we love to switch up the marinade with zesty and house Italian dressing?.

We make these ALL the time. They’ve been in our dinner rotation for years!! I switch up the seasoning sometimes and use bbq seasoning. For the Italian dressing I use Olive Garden. We have also made them on the grill in the summer. Thank you for a wonderful recipe. My kids love these pork chops. I found your recipe a couple years ago but never left a review. My husband made them tonight and I was like hey I should leave one, haha.

  3. Hi Terri, your concern is valid, but I haven’t had it burn on me yet. I make them in a glass Pyrex baking dish so that may have something to do with it. The fat and pork juices mix with the sauce, thinning it out and create a delicious baste for the chops. If you are using a metal pan and have concerns, I would just not put the sauce under the chops. Let me know how they turn out! Have a great one!

  4. Terri

I’m kind of afraid that the barbecue sauce will burn at 375 for an hour plus. Thanks!

Hi Cindy, thanks for the question. I usually use Kraft Tuscan House Italian, but I have also used Olive Garden Signature Italian Dressing. I hope that helps:) Hugs- Christine

What kind/brand of house Italian dressing do you use please!
