It may not be July yet, but I have started early this year getting ready for the 4th. If there is at least 24 hours left, it is early, right? Usually I sit around and dream of fun projects I would like to do, get involved in doing something else and my dream projects never even get started. I want this year to be different. Maybe it’s because I have started this little blog, but I really want to plan something special for the 4th this year. Deciding to take baby steps, my first project turned to be these fun and super easy Patriotic Napkin Rings. Have you made napkin rings out of empty paper towel tubes before? That is what I used, basically trash, along with some decorative tape to make these. Let me show you…
Ok, really all I actually used was the
trash paper towel tube, scissors and the decorative tape. I only used the X-ACTO mat to measure out 1 inch increments on the tube.
I cut a one inch piece of tubing and wrapped tape around one side. I wrapped 1/2 width of the tape on the outside of the ring and 1/2 width on the inside. I then repeated that on the other side. This left an uncovered space in the middle, so I wapped another piece of tape down the middle of the ring. To finish, I wrapped another piece of tape down the center of the inside of the ring so the ring is entirely covered with tape.
The whole wrapping process took about 2 minutes for each ring… X that for 8 rings and my entire project was done in less than 20 minutes. Wheww!
I think for about 12 cents each, they turned out alright! The paper towel tube was free…and the tape came from Dollar Tree and was, you guessed it, $1. I even have tape left over for another quick patriotic project that I will share soon.
Not to shabby and the napkin rings fit right in with all the red, white and blue for July 4th. Ok, one project down…and at least half a dozen to go! I am so happy that I started early! Have a great day folks…
Till next time – Christine
