For a while now, I have been saving every glass jar we use instead of throwing them away or recycling. In the interest of family harmony, I was searching for a way to use all of those jars when I came across a can of Frosted Glass spray and inspiration struck. DIY Frosted Mason Jar Luminary!
Repurpose those saved jars into something that will add beauty to your home. Glass jars are perfect for making something gorgeous for seasonal decorating or holiday gift giving. To make DIY Frosted Mason Jar Luminaries, any clean jar can be used, it does not need to be a mason jar. Any size and shape jar will work too, so use whatever type of jar you like.
I have been hoarding old glass jars and bottles for a while now. It may have become an obscession. If I see anyone heading to the trash with a jar in their hands I will dash to grab it before it hits the can. I have so many jars, it is getting so every time I open the cabinet to add more empty jars, the ones I already have will spill out on the floor. It was either do something with this stash, take them all to recycling or risk my family taking matters into their own hands! After all the time and cracked thumbnails I spent getting the labels off, these jars were staying with me.
You will need:
clean glass jars
Frosted Glass spray
removable stickers or vinyl cutouts for your design
strips of toile fabric to tie around top ( or your vorite twine, ribbon, rope, etc)
Place your sticker or vinyl cutout design on the outside of the jar where you want the design to show. In a well ventilated area, spray frosting spray onto jar, following spray directions. Keep adding coats of spray until desired opaqueness is reached. Let dry 10 minutes, then carefully remove the sticker or vinyl. Be careful because frosting will not be dry. Let jar dry completely, tie your choice of decoration on the jar, add a tea light and enjoy.
What do you think of these Frosted Jar Luminaries? Have you ever made these before? I would love to hear your comments!
Till next time – Christine
